The regulation by the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK) amending the regulation on the registration of devices with electronic identity information has been published in today's issue of the Official Gazette.

PERIOD CHANGED

According to the regulation, the period determined for removing unused, illegal, lost, stolen, or devices with altered or cloned electronic identity information from the white list, including them in the black list, and disconnecting them will be reduced from 7 years to 1 year starting from January 1, 2024.

IF ADDED TO THE BLACK LIST...

In this context, the communication connection of mobile phones that are in the BTK database and have not been used for 1 consecutive year will be disconnected within 24 hours, and the device information will be included in the black list.

If a device added to the black list is used again with a subscriber number, the IMEI number of the device will be re-registered and added to the white list following a notification made by the GSM operator. Previously, this request could only be made through the importer or manufacturer of the device.

APPLICATIONS CAN BE MADE TO BTK

According to the temporary article added to the regulation, if the end-user of a device added to the black list does not match the BTK records, the request to re-register the IMEI number of the relevant device can be made through the importer or manufacturer of the device. In cases where the importer or manufacturer of the device has been liquidated or deregistered, an application can be made to the BTK by completing the necessary information and documents.
