Investment message to Turkey from Qatari Sheikh: 'We want to connect more with Turkey'

Qatari Sheikh Mansoor Al-Thani made statements to CNBC-e at the GSA Innovation Summit in Istanbul.

Commenting on Qatar's investments in Turkey, Mansoor Al-Thani said, “We are not talking about massive investment amounts in Turkey. While the returns on investments are high, the risks are also high. We can speak in terms of a few million. However, as I said, the technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship side is very important. And I expect high returns from here. Even though the risk is high, we manage the risk well. I have been working in the field of entrepreneurship and innovation for nearly 25 years.”

Noting that Qatar has significant investments in Turkey, Qatari Sheikh Mansoor Al-Thani added, “Our relations are very good. We have friendship and brotherhood. I know the investment amount is large, but I do not know the exact figure.”

'WE WANT TO INVEST MORE WITH TURKEY'

Stating that they are satisfied with their current investments in Turkey, the Qatari Sheikh said, “My investment is in people. I focus on people. This is very different. We generate value from people, investments, and innovation. Our investment is not on projects and other matters. Investing in people is different and more valuable. I am very satisfied with this investment. We want to connect more with Turkey, get to know people, and invest in people,” he expressed.

Evaluating the current economic situation and investment environment in Turkey, Qatari Sheikh Mansoor Al-Thani said, “In my opinion, the approach to the global economy should be a bit different. Because I believe that it is necessary not just to think outside the box, but to eliminate the boxes. We should focus on innovation and entrepreneurship, and come up with a different method. Because traditional methods do not work, and traditional tools cannot help the economy. For this reason, I am trying to communicate with many people and trying to build a sustainable economy based on talent.”
