Raise rate not on the table: Public Arbitration Board meets again today

The eyes of approximately 6.5 million civil servants and civil servant retirees are on the final decision to come from the Public Arbitration Board.

The Board held its second meeting yesterday; the Public Employer side and the unions sat down at the table once again.

Deputy ministers from the Ministry of Labour and Social Security and the Ministry of Treasury and Finance attended the meeting, which was chaired by Court of Accounts President Metin Yener. Representatives of Memur-Sen and Türkiye Kamu-Sen also took part in the talks.

RAISE RATE NOT DISCUSSED

The issue of the raise rate did not come up during the approximately 1.5-hour meeting. Confederation representatives presented the rationale behind their collective bargaining demands and called for a concrete raise proposal to be brought to the 3rd meeting.

The Arbitration Board will hold its third meeting today. The final decision is expected to be announced by Wednesday, 27 August.

LATEST PROPOSALS

The government had proposed a 1,000-lira improvement to the base salary, a raise of 11+7 percent for 2026, and 4+4 percent for 2027. Memur-Sen had demanded a raise of 88 percent for 2026 and 46 percent for 2027.

The Ministry of Labour and Social Security shared the gains achieved by service branch in the collective bargaining talks. The talks emphasised that the financial and social rights of public officials had been protected and that significant gains had been secured across 11 service branches. The Public Employer Delegation was said to have demonstrated "an approach that prioritises labour and upholds fiscal discipline."
