Record increase in sacrificial animal prices: How much are small and large cattle for sacrifice?

Sacrificial animal prices have become clear ahead of the holiday. Şemsi Bayraktar, President of the Union of Turkish Chambers of Agriculture (TZOB), made important statements regarding the average sacrificial animal prices across the country

In a written statement on the subject, Bayraktar said, "According to the data we received from our Chambers of Agriculture, it is observed that the average prices in our country will range between 75 thousand liras and 250 thousand liras per head for large cattle, and between 8 thousand liras and 25 thousand liras for small cattle. We estimate that the live weight price will be between 200 liras and 300 liras per kilogram for large cattle, and between 180 liras and 300 liras for small cattle."

According to Bayraktar's statement, the live kilogram price of large cattle was observed to be 248 liras, while the live kilogram price of small cattle was 244 liras.

Bayraktar continued as follows:

"Prices have increased by 68.8 percent for large cattle and 88.4 percent for small cattle compared to last year. The average price per kilogram rose from 147 liras to 248 liras for large cattle, and from 130 liras to 244 liras for small cattle.

Due to the decrease in purchasing power in our country and the significant increases in sacrificial animal prices, we estimate that there will be a decrease of at least 20 percent in large cattle slaughter and at least 10 percent in small cattle slaughter this year compared to last year.

Considering the sacrificial animal sales in recent years, we foresee that a total of 3 million 180 thousand animals, approximately 680 thousand large cattle and 2 million 500 thousand small cattle, will be slaughtered this year."
