Record losses from 2 major Koç Holding companies

Turkey's leading home appliance manufacturer, Arçelik, reported a net loss of 4.07 billion TL in the first six months of 2025. Although the company, which announced a loss of 2.3 billion TL in the first quarter, achieved a net monetary position gain of 3.4 billion TL in the second quarter, this was not enough to offset the annual loss.

Arçelik, which reported a net profit of 22.8 billion TL in the same period last year, experienced an 11.5 percent decline in sales revenue this year due to contraction in international markets and operational difficulties in Europe.

While Arçelik's gross profit increased by 9.2 percent on an annual basis to reach 34.4 billion TL, EBITDA exceeded market expectations at 7.4 billion TL. However, net debt rose to 145 billion TL and free cash flow remained negative at -28.9 billion TL.

OTOKAR'S PERFORMANCE

Otokar announced a net loss of 79.1 million TL in the first half of 2025. Although the company, which lost 1.8 billion TL in the same period last year, significantly reduced its losses this year, it could not turn a profit. While Otokar's gross profit increased by 67 percent to 4.3 billion TL, sales revenue rose by 13 percent to 19.8 billion TL. However, net debt reached 18.5 billion TL, an increase of 23 percent.

Otokar's equity rose to 8.9 billion TL. The company's performance in the second half of the year will determine whether it can close the year with a profit.

The financial results of these two Koç Holding companies also affect the holding's consolidated revenue and balance sheet. In particular, how Arçelik will manage its losses for the remainder of the year is being closely monitored by the markets.
