Restaurant prices to be gathered on a single site! Consumers will be able to check before they go

The Ministry of Industry and Technology and TÜBİTAK recently launched the "marketfiyati.org.tr" platform, which gathers grocery store prices under one roof. The platform, where price comparisons for nearly 50 thousand products can be made, attracted great interest in a short time. In the first three days, it reached more than 1 million unique visitors and millions of products were compared.

Price differences in chain stores such as A101, BİM, CarrefourSA, HAKMAR, MİGROS, Tarım Kredi, and ŞOK were brought to light.

In particular, price differences of up to two times for the same product have enabled consumers to become more informed and choose more affordable products.

PRICE COMPARISON SYSTEM MAY BE COMING FOR RESTAURANTS

Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır stated in his remarks to CNN Türk that a similar system could be implemented for restaurants as well.

“Such a step could also be taken regarding restaurants. We are discussing it. When you go to a restaurant, you can only see the prices once you reach the door. However, digital opportunities are very widespread. The more we offer these digital opportunities to our citizens, the better. This way, we will also expose opportunists.”

If this application is implemented, citizens will be able to view restaurant prices online, making it easy to identify high-priced establishments.
