SEC announces its X account was compromised and spot Bitcoin ETFs have not been approved

U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chair Gary Gensler announced that the SEC's X account was compromised and that spot Bitcoin Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) have not yet been approved.

Gensler, in a statement on his social media account, reported that the SEC's X account was compromised and that an unauthorized post was made from it.

TRADING NOT APPROVED

Chair Gensler noted that the SEC has not yet approved the listing and trading of spot Bitcoin exchange-traded products. Minutes before Gensler's statement, a post had been made from the official SEC X account claiming that spot Bitcoin ETFs had been approved.

Following the post in question, the price of Bitcoin approached 48 thousand dollars, but fell below 46 thousand dollars after the news was denied.
