It has been announced that Garanti BBVA General Manager Recep Baştuğ is stepping down from his position. It was reported that Mahmut Akten, who was responsible for Corporate, Investment Banking Services, and Global Markets, has been appointed to the seat vacated by Baştuğ.
According to the statement made by the bank, Akten will begin his duties following the completion of the necessary legal procedures and the approvals of the BRSA (BDDK). It was stated that the person to be appointed to Akten's position will be determined at a later date.
The statement made by the bank to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP) read as follows:
"Information regarding the decision of our Bank's Board of Directors dated 02.08.2024 is provided below; Mr. Recep Baştuğ, who assumed the position of General Manager in 2019, has decided to step down from his post. Today, our Company's Board of Directors has decided to appoint Mr. Mahmut Akten, who is currently responsible for Corporate, Investment Banking Services, and Global Markets, as the new General Manager. Mahmut Akten will begin his duties following the completion of the necessary legal procedures and the approvals of the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency.
The Board of Directors will determine the person to succeed Mr. Mahmut Akten in his current position at a later date."
