SGK releases statement on promotions for retirees: 'Payments increased by approximately 2-fold...'

The Social Security Institution (SGK) stated on its website, "Promotion payments for our citizens receiving retirement pensions have been increased by approximately 2-fold at public banks and set between 8,000 and 12,000 Turkish Lira."

The statement, which noted that there are 12.7 million retirees receiving pensions from the SGK, included the following:

"There are 12.7 million retirees receiving pensions from our institution. Pension payments are made to our retirees through banks. Promotion payments for our citizens receiving retirement pensions have been increased by approximately 2-fold at public banks and set between 8,000 and 12,000 Turkish Lira.

"5,000 LIRA PROMOTION PAYMENT TO BENEFICIARIES RECEIVING DEATH BENEFITS"

Furthermore, a promotion payment of 5,000 Turkish Lira will be made by our public banks to the 3.3 million beneficiaries receiving death benefits from the SGK, provided they apply. In order for the banks to pay the promotion, our retirees and beneficiaries must apply to the banks.

"BANKS WILL BE ABLE TO INCREASE PROMOTION AMOUNTS"

The determined amounts are at a minimum level, and banks will be able to increase the promotion amounts in line with their own practices. The results of studies regarding other banks will be shared separately."
