Selling pressure in global commodity markets has also reflected on precious metals. The ounce price of silver fell to as low as 55.4 dollars during the week, hitting its lowest level in the last 3 months.
The persistence of high inflation in the US has strengthened expectations that the American Central Bank (Fed) may keep borrowing costs high for a longer period. Although the expectation that the Fed will not raise interest rates this month remains, "hawkish" pricing regarding subsequent meetings has increased concerns about commodity demand.
This outlook accelerated sales in the commodity market, particularly for industrial metals. On an ounce basis, prices fell by 6.3 percent for silver, 3.4 percent for platinum, 3.2 percent for palladium, and 0.7 percent for gold.
In addition to silver, notable declines were observed in platinum and palladium. While the ounce of platinum dropped to 1598.20 dollars, its lowest level in 3 months, the ounce price of palladium fell to 1092 dollars, reaching its weakest level since August 2025.
