Sharpest decline of the year in industrial production
Turkey's industrial production experienced a contraction in August, falling 1.6 percent monthly and 5.3 percent annually. Production decreased by 5.4 percent compared to last year.
The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) has announced the industrial production index data for August.
Industrial production fell by 1.6 percent monthly and 5.3 percent annually in August.
When the sub-sectors of industry are examined, the mining and quarrying sector index decreased by 5.4 percent and the manufacturing sector index by 5.4 percent compared to the same month last year, while the electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning production and distribution sector index increased by 1.6 percent.
CONTRACTION ALSO RECORDED ON A MONTHLY BASIS
Seasonally and calendar-adjusted industrial production recorded a 1.6 percent decrease in August compared to the previous month.
When the sub-sectors of industry for the month in question are examined, the mining and quarrying sector index decreased by 4.4 percent, the manufacturing sector index by 1.3 percent, and the electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning production and distribution sector index by 3.2 percent.
