Şimşek announces: 'Advance tax' system is coming!

According to a report by Yücel Kayaoğlu from Türkiye newspaper, the new tax package will include regulations specifically targeting those whose earnings are inconsistent with the taxes they pay.

AKP sources noted that the taxes paid by doctors, engineers, dentists, or certain self-employed groups will be scrutinized. Party officials stated, “You look at people in certain professions; they have a very luxurious lifestyle, driving the latest model cars or living in luxury. Having these things requires a good income. But when you look at the tax they pay, there is no consistency with their earnings. There are even those who pay no tax as if they are not earning anything at all. We want to put an end to this.”

Stating that the implementation of an 'advance tax' system for self-employed groups is on the agenda, AKP sources added, “We want the tax to be collected in advance, and then they can file their declaration. There will be a reconciliation at the end of the tax period. This method prevents tax evasion. Because no one wants to be subject to a tax audit. If the declared tax base is shown to be lower than the tax collected, they know they will be subject to an audit,” they said.

‘NO MONEY LEFT IN THE COFFERS’

Expressing that the Minimum Corporate Tax application is being considered not only for global companies but also for domestic ones, AKP officials assessed, “In our study, we saw that, for example, even the tax paid by firms in the top 100 in terms of tax base across Turkey leaves the treasury as soon as it enters. Because, due to exemptions, incentives, and waivers, this tax does not remain in the treasury. With the work being done, even if they benefit from exemptions or have waivers, they will be required to pay at least 15 percent in corporate tax.”
