SSI takes action: Thousands of pensions cancelled! Will be clawed back with interest...
The Social Security Institution (SSI) has cut off the orphan's pensions of numerous individuals who divorced but continued to live in the same household, and has initiated the process to recover the paid amounts with interest.
The Social Security Institution (SSI) continues its fight against citizens who continue to live with their former spouses after divorcing in order to receive an orphan's pension. During comprehensive audits conducted throughout 2024, blocks were placed on thousands of people who were receiving irregular monthly payments through such methods.
The SSI continues its work without slowing down with approximately 3 thousand inspectors in many areas, from unregistered employment to fake workplaces and insurance. In the audits carried out over the past year, it was determined that 369 thousand 573 people were employed unregistered and 7 thousand 801 workplaces were also unregistered, while a separate follow-up was carried out regarding fraudulent divorces.
In 3 thousand 936 audits conducted nationwide in 2024, the fraudulent transactions of 2 thousand 606 people who divorced their spouses to receive an orphan's pension but continued to live together were uncovered. As a result of the audits, the monthly payments these citizens were receiving were immediately cut off, and proceedings were initiated to recover the pensions paid to them in the past, along with legal interest.
