Statement from Akbank: We distributed 1 trillion 201 billion TL in loans in 2023

Akbank General Manager Kaan Gür made a statement regarding the bank's 2023 financial performance.

Gür stated, “2023 was a year in which inflation and the resulting interest rate hikes were on the agenda of the global economy. As our country entered a similar period of monetary tightening, significant improvements were observed in many areas, particularly in the country's risk premium. The Turkish banking sector maintained its strong structure in 2023. Akbank also continued to support the Turkish economy throughout 2023.”

Gür continued his remarks as follows:

“We maintained our strong customer acquisition performance in 2023 with the addition of 2.3 million net active customers. We continued to keep sustainable profitability at our focal point with strong market share gains in broad-based deposits and individual loans. In 2023, we increased the credit support we provided to our economy to a total of 1 trillion 201 billion TL, 962 billion TL of which was in cash. Our total deposits reached 1 trillion 293 billion TL, and our assets reached 1 trillion 905 billion TL. With our strong consolidated capital adequacy ratio, which stood at 21 percent, we continued to support the growth and development of the real sector. Our bank set aside 20 billion 596 million TL in tax provisions this year and achieved a consolidated net profit of 66 billion 496 million TL.”
