Stock market starts the first trading day of the week with gains (October 14, 2024)

The stock market started the week with gains.

At the opening, the BIST 100 index rose by 9.23 points and 0.10 percent compared to the previous close, reaching 8,885.45 points.

The banking index gained 0.15 percent and the holding index gained 0.19 percent.

Among sector indices, mining was the top gainer with 0.71 percent, while the securities investment trust index was the biggest loser with 1.39 percent.

On Friday, the BIST 100 index at Borsa Istanbul followed a sell-heavy trend, closing the day down 0.98 percent at 8,876.22 points.

Analysts stated that global markets started the week with a positive trend due to strong expectations that the US economy could achieve a soft landing and statements made by the Chinese Finance Minister over the weekend.

Noting that the data agenda is quiet both domestically and abroad today, analysts reported that from a technical perspective, the 9,000 and 9,165 levels are resistance, while 8,870 and 8,710 points are support positions for the BIST 100 index.
