The BIST 100 index closed at 10,862.14 points, up 0.2 percent.

The spring breeze in the stock market continues in March with strong foreign inflows. The rapprochement with the EU and the ongoing process can also be perceived as an indication that the positive trend will continue. However, alongside this picture, it is noteworthy that only 5 of the 12 companies that went public this year have share prices above their IPO price.

WILL THE POSITIVE SENTIMENT CONTINUE?

Contrary to the volatile trend in January and February 2025, Borsa Istanbul indices are experiencing a spring-like atmosphere with the positive sentiment in March. Of course, it cannot be said that this atmosphere applies to all companies. According to data from the Capital Markets Board (SPK), which has not permitted new IPOs since February 6, 2025, 12 IPOs have been completed and started trading on the stock exchange this year. In 7 of these 12 new IPO companies, the share price has remained below the IPO price.

WILL IPOS RESUME?

The volatile trend of stocks before March had also reduced interest in new IPOs. Looking at the SPK data, a total capital of 28.55 billion TL was raised through the 12 IPOs that took place this year.

There are also comments suggesting that the positive trend observed in the stock market in March could restart IPOs.
