Mehmet Ali Akben, the former head of the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BRSA) who was appointed to the board of Türk Telekom in August, has resigned from his position.
In a notification made by Türk Telekom to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP), it was stated, “Our company Board Member Mr. Mehmet Ali Akben has resigned from his board membership.”
According to the report by Gökmen Mert Kural from Patronlar Dünyası, former BRSA President Mehmet Ali Akben had been appointed as the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors at Türk Telekom.
In the statement made by the company to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP), it was noted that as of August 9, 2023, Akben would serve as the vice chairman of the board of directors.
Akben was appointed as the President of the BRSA with a decision published in the Official Gazette on May 15, 2015; his term ended on May 17, 2023, and he handed over his duties to Central Bank Governor Şahap Kavcıoğlu following Mehmet Şimşek's assumption of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance.
