Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat met with representatives of the Turkish and Belgian business worlds at the Turkey-Belgium High-Level Roundtable Meeting held in Brussels. The meeting was organized in cooperation with FEB and DEİK.
In an assessment shared on his social media account, Bolat stated that comprehensive discussions were held to further advance economic relations between Turkey and Belgium, increase mutual investments, and develop opportunities for cooperation between the business communities.
Minister Bolat stated that the trade volume between the two countries reached 9.3 billion dollars in 2025 and expressed that the target is 15 billion dollars. He noted that the discussions addressed opportunities to diversify trade, accelerate investments, and facilitate firms' access to new markets.
Drawing attention to a period in which supply chains are being reshaped in the global economy, Bolat emphasized that Turkey is a reliable production, investment, and supply chain partner with its strong production infrastructure, qualified human resources, strategic location, and industrial structure integrated with European markets.
Stating that the European Union's "Made in EU" approach was also evaluated at the meeting, Bolat pointed to the importance of taking into account the Turkey-EU Customs Union and the integration that has formed between industries over the years. Bolat noted that Turkey being accepted as equivalent within the scope of the Industrial Acceleration Law would contribute to the competitiveness of Turkish, Belgian, and European firms.
Bolat expressed that steps that increase production, exports, and effectiveness in global trade in line with the goals of the Century of Turkey, and that strengthen economic cooperation based on mutual gain, will be continued with determination.
