Tax hike coming for diesel: Here is the new price per liter
With the reintroduction of the Special Consumption Tax (ÖTV) that was zeroed out on August 13, a 3.60 TL increase, including VAT, will be reflected in the price per liter.
A new increase is on the agenda for diesel fuel prices. With the Special Consumption Tax (ÖTV), which was zeroed out on August 13, being reapplied as of September 1, a tax-related hike will be reflected in the price per liter of diesel.
Increasing the ÖTV on diesel to 3 TL will result in a 3.60 TL increase per liter at the pump when the 20 percent Value Added Tax (VAT) is added. No new changes are expected for gasoline prices or taxes on the same date.
On August 27, a 5.30 TL reduction had been made to the price per liter of diesel due to a decline in oil and international product prices. It is stated that the new increase stems from tax regulations rather than market prices.
The diesel ÖTV, which was zeroed out for the remainder of August by Presidential Decree, will be increased gradually until the end of the year. Accordingly, the ÖTV amount will be 3 TL in September, 6 TL in October, 9 TL in November, and 12 TL in December. It is projected that the amount will be applied as 13.9006 TL starting from January 1, 2027.
Following the hike, the price per liter of diesel is expected to rise to approximately 81.06 TL in Istanbul, 82.18 TL in Ankara, and 82.46 TL in İzmir. The price per liter of gasoline is currently at the level of approximately 74.35 TL in Istanbul, 75.30 TL in Ankara, and 75.59 TL in İzmir.
Fuel prices may vary by province, district, and dealer.
