Testing process complete: Türksat 6A is on its way

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated in a written statement that Türksat 6A is ready to be sent into space and that the final stages of the packaging process are underway.

Reminding that the integration and testing of Türksat 6A were carried out at the Space Systems Integration and Test (USET) Center, Uraloğlu said, "We continue our services in satellite operations with our communications satellites Türksat 3A, Türksat 4A, Türksat 4B, Türksat 5A, and Türksat 5B. We are now very close to the end of our domestic communications satellite project, Türksat 6A, which is one of Turkey's most important projects. We will see our satellite in space in July."

Pointing out that the construction of Türksat 6A was completed under the leadership of Türksat with the support of domestic industrial organizations such as TÜBİTAK Space, ASELSAN, TUSAŞ, and CTECH, Uraloğlu noted the following:

"I say with pride that we have successfully completed our country's largest R&D project, Türksat 6A. Now we are at the stage of sending it into space. The packaging of our satellite is also nearing completion at USET. On Tuesday, June 4, our national pride, the Türksat 6A satellite, will set off from Ankara on an Antonov An-124 type aircraft toward the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida, USA. After a journey of approximately 17 hours, our satellite will land in the hangar at the SpaceX facilities at the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, where its post-transport tests will be conducted. Additionally, the fueling of Türksat 6A will also be carried out in the SpaceX hangar. We plan to launch it to its orbital position using a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket in the second week of July."

Emphasizing that the technology transfer training program initiated by Türksat is the reason behind the high domestic production rate of Türksat 6A, Uraloğlu assessed, "With the program initiated by our country's satellite operator Türksat, Türksat engineers were involved in the construction of Türksat 4A and 4B, in addition to Türksat 3A. During the construction of Türksat 5A and 5B, 12 Türksat engineers were again involved in satellite design, production, and testing as part of the technology transfer program. Currently, with the contributions of Türksat engineers who received training in the field of space technologies under the technology transfer program, we have produced Türksat 6A with the highest rate of domestic content."

Minister Uraloğlu pointed out that Türksat 6A, which will provide redundancy for existing satellites, will also significantly increase Turkey's satellite capacity, noting that the satellite, which is planned to be positioned at a distance of 35,786 kilometers, has a power of 7.5 kilowatts.

Emphasizing that as a geostationary communications satellite, Türksat 6A will be able to meet the country's satellite communication needs in a wide coverage area, primarily for TV broadcasting, Uraloğlu stated that it will also enter the coverage area of India, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia, where existing satellites do not provide service.

Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated that with Türksat 6A, the population reached by Turkey's satellites will increase from 3.5 billion to 5 billion, and noted that with the commissioning of Türksat 6A, Türksat's export of satellite services to the region will also increase significantly.
