The BIST 100 index, which trades on Borsa Istanbul, closed 2023 at 7,470.18 points and reached 9,830.56 points by the end of 2024. The annual increase in the index corresponds to a rise of 2,360.38 points, recorded at 31.60 percent.

The gold market also experienced a remarkable year. The gram selling price of 24-karat bullion gold in the Grand Bazaar increased by 51.63 percent throughout 2024. Gram gold, which was at the 1,962 lira level at the end of last year, rose to 2,975 lira on the final trading day of 2024.

The Cumhuriyet gold coin, which was trading at 13,176 lira in 2023, rose to 20,180 lira by the end of 2024, gaining 53.16 percent in value and becoming the most profitable investment asset of the year.

RISE IN FOREIGN CURRENCY CONTINUED

Foreign exchange rates also continued their upward trend. The US dollar rose from 29.5550 lira in 2023 to 35.3580 lira in 2024, experiencing an increase of 19.63 percent. The Euro reached the 36.7510 lira level by the end of the year, rising by 12.51 percent on an annual basis.
