The cost of getting a driver's license has exceeded 35 thousand liras: Course, exam, and fee charges are burning pockets

The costs faced by those who want to obtain a driver's license continue to rise. When the driving school fee, theoretical and driving exam payments, and the state fee are calculated together, the total amount exceeds 35 thousand liras.

Selin Şimşek, who has been an instructor in the sector for about four years, stated that young people and students, in particular, find the course fees high. According to Şimşek, it is not only the scope of the training process that is effective in the price increase, but also the rise in fuel and vehicle maintenance expenses.

THE TRAINING PROCESS APPROACHES 3 MONTHS

Şimşek emphasized that the process of obtaining a driver's license is longer and more comprehensive than is thought. Stating that candidates receive training spread over approximately 2.5-3 months, Şimşek said that after 34 hours of theoretical training, the exam phase is reached, and then 16 hours of driving training are provided.

Explaining the reasons for the increase in course fees, Şimşek stated that fuel prices and vehicle maintenance expenses directly affect the costs of driving schools. It was noted that the increases in these expenses are reflected in the course fees as price hikes.

According to the current calculation, the driving school fee is at the level of approximately 23 thousand 500 liras. To this, a 1,250 lira theoretical exam fee and a 2 thousand lira driving exam fee are added. Candidates who pass the exams successfully are also required to pay a state fee of 8 thousand 869 liras.

When these items are added up, the cost of obtaining a driver's license reaches approximately 35 thousand 600 liras, provided the candidate does not fail the exams. Şimşek stated that the total cost is currently in the 35-36 thousand lira band.
