The cost of 'living' in Istanbul has been revealed: It has exceeded 4 minimum wages

The Istanbul Planning Agency (IPA), affiliated with the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), has calculated the cost of living in Istanbul.

In September, the average cost of living for a family of four in Istanbul increased by 2 thousand 498 liras compared to the previous month, reaching 71 thousand 431 liras.

The cost of living increased by 3.6 percent on a monthly basis and by 60.3 percent compared to the previous year.

Sharing on his social media account, IPA President Buğra Gökce said, "In Istanbul, the 1-month increase rate alone is higher than the annual inflation rate of many countries in Europe. The increase in the cost of living in Istanbul continues to track above the CPI rate announced by TURKSTAT."

The cost of living in Istanbul in August was 68 thousand 933 liras.

MEAT-MINCED MEAT PRODUCTS INCREASED BY 70 PERCENT ANNUALLY

According to the IPA's research, among basic consumer goods, the highest increase compared to September of the previous year was experienced in meat-minced meat product prices at 69.4 percent.

The cost of living in Istanbul has increased by 60.3 percent compared to the previous year.
