The countdown has begun: Claims of an additional pension hike before local elections! Here are the figures being discussed...
While the 5 percent additional hike for SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees disappointed millions, it has been suggested that the AKP may implement an additional increase covering all retirees before the local elections.
While the salary increase rate for civil servants and civil servant retirees was set at 49.25 percent, this figure remained at 37.57 percent for SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees.
AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced the additional hike rate expected by millions of retirees as 5 percent.
Declaring 2024 as the "year of the retiree," Erdoğan announced that the lowest pension had been increased from 7,500 TL to 10,000 TL.
Millions of retirees, who have been condemned to a starvation wage, were disappointed by the announced hike rate.
CLAIMS OF AN ADDITIONAL PENSION HIKE BEFORE THE ELECTION
Kısa Dalga columnist Mehmet Çetingüleç suggested that the government might implement an additional pension hike before the local elections.
FIGURES DISCUSSED FOR THE ADDITIONAL PENSION HIKE
Stating that a flat-rate increase could be provided to all retirees, Çetingüleç claimed that figures between 4,000 and 8,000 liras are being mentioned in political circles.
In his article regarding the claims of an additional pension hike, Mehmet Çetingüleç used the following expressions:
"In Ankara, many segments, including ruling party MPs, believe that regulations will be made to fulfill the promise that '2024 will be the year of the retiree.'
It is possible to list the expectations on this subject as follows:
First; an additional hike could be made just before the election for the segment that receives a 7,500 lira salary and was even deprived of the 42.6 percent increase.
Second; a flat-rate increase could come for all retirees. A date before the election is being given for this. Figures between 4,000 and 8,000 liras are being mentioned for a flat-rate hike.
Third; an adjustment (intibak) could be made. In other words, the difference between those who retired before the year 2000 and those who retired after the year 2000 could be eliminated.
Previously, the salaries of those who retired before 2000 were partially increased with an adjustment regulation. Now, the same could be applied to those who retired after 2000.
The closer you bring the 'joy of a raise' to the election, the higher the return at the ballot box.
It is possible that, with such calculations, the regulation that will create additional income for retirees may have been left until the middle of March.
The probability of an additional hike coming in March is high.
If the government is going to make 2024 the 'year of the retiree' anyway, why wait until after the election to do it?
It should do it before the election so that both the AK Party and the retiree can benefit from it.
In other words, 'win-win...'
On the other hand...
The opposition has started to push.
CHP wants the lowest pension to be increased to 17,000 liras.
Retirees are up in arms.
The possibility of the government leaving the retiree 'below the hunger threshold,' which is 14,435 liras, is gradually weakening.
The countdown for an additional hike has begun!..."
