The Mehmet Yiğiner era begins at TESK: Bendevi Palandöken’s 19-year presidency comes to an end
Mehmet Yiğiner, who entered the election with a single list at the 22nd Ordinary General Assembly of TESK, was elected president with 560 votes.
The presidential election at the 22nd Ordinary General Assembly of the Confederation of Turkish Tradesmen and Craftsmen (TESK), held in Ankara, has concluded. Mehmet Yiğiner, President of the Turkish Drivers and Automobile Federation (TŞOF), was elected as the new president of TESK.
Yiğiner, who entered the election at the general assembly with a single list, took the helm of the confederation's new administration after receiving the majority of the votes cast. According to information provided by TESK, the voting process was completed as of 17:00.
In the election where a total of 695 delegates cast their votes, Mehmet Yiğiner received 560 votes. 85 votes were declared invalid in the election.
During the election process, the general assembly proceeded with Yiğiner's list following the decision of the former TESK President Bendevi Palandöken not to field a list. It was stated that Palandöken left the hall without casting a vote.
Thus, Bendevi Palandöken’s 19-year tenure as TESK President has come to an end. Palandöken had served as a board member and vice president at TESK between 1996 and 1999, and was elected president in 2007.
In the new term, Yiğiner will serve as the president of TESK, the umbrella organization for tradesmen and craftsmen across Turkey.
