The Mint announces the most minted coins and those that were not produced at all

Data from the General Directorate of the Mint and Stamp Printing House revealed the amount of coins put into circulation in the first half of the year. A total of 169 million 960 thousand coins were released into the market during the January-June period. The total value of these coins was calculated as 434 million 615 thousand 500 Turkish Lira.

In terms of quantity, the highest production occurred with the 1 lira coin. In the first 6 months, 90 million 439 thousand 1 lira coins were put into circulation. The 1 lira was followed by 5 lira coins with 67 million 686 thousand units, and 50 kuruş coins with 11 million 367 thousand units.

During the same period, 360 thousand 10 kuruş coins and 108 thousand 25 kuruş coins were minted, while no production was carried out for 5 kuruş and 1 kuruş coins. Thus, while production remained limited for low-denomination coins in the first half of the year, the majority of the coins released into the market consisted of 1 lira and 5 lira coins.

HIGHEST PRODUCTION WAS IN FEBRUARY

Looking at the monthly distribution, the highest number of coins were minted in February during the first half of the year. In that month, 46 million 210 thousand coins entered circulation. The month with the lowest coin supply was June, with 15 million 600 thousand units.

The total value of coins put into circulation last year was recorded as 1 billion 332 million 363 thousand 400 Turkish Lira. In 2025, 172 million 793 thousand 5 lira coins, 449 million 652 thousand 1 lira coins, 37 million 254 thousand 50 kuruş coins, 1 million 80 thousand 10 kuruş coins, 180 thousand 5 kuruş coins, and 240 thousand 1 kuruş coins had been put into circulation.
