The Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) has announced the products with the highest and lowest price increases in September. Accordingly, the product with the highest price increase in September compared to the previous month was the lead pencil, with 92.94 percent.

Accordingly, while the retail prices of 129 out of the 242 products included in the ITO's Istanbul Wage Earners' Cost of Living Index increased, the prices of 18 products fell, and the prices of 95 products remained unchanged.
EDUCATION EXPENDITURES SKYROCKETED WITH THE OPENING OF SCHOOLS
In September, the lead pencil, which is in the culture, education, and entertainment expenditure group, became the product with the highest price increase at 92.94 percent.
Some of the other products that experienced price increases were course and private tutoring fees at 79.85 percent, notebooks at 66.22 percent, and school uniforms at 65.33 percent, all from the culture, education, and entertainment expenditure group; fresh beans at 46.68 percent, green peppers at 39.64 percent, and zucchini at 34.55 percent from the food expenditure, fresh and dried vegetables and fruits subgroup; and school bags at 30.94 percent from the culture, education, and entertainment expenditure group.
In September, the price of lemons, which are in the food expenditure, fresh and dried vegetables and fruits subgroup, fell by 46.58 percent. Thus, lemons became the product with the highest price decrease.
Other products that saw a decrease in price were recorded as plums at 14.06 percent, melons at 11.83 percent, and pears at 7.11 percent from the food expenditure, fresh and dried vegetables and fruits subgroup; and fuel oil at 6.94 percent, kerosene at 3.86 percent, and bedroom sets at 3.03 percent from the housing expenditure group.
