The price hike champion of February in Istanbul has been announced: Price increased by 36 percent
According to data from the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO), cauliflower was the product with the highest price increase in February, rising by 36.71 percent.
The Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) has announced the products with the highest retail price increases and decreases in Istanbul last February, along with their prices and rates of change, in order to ensure market transparency and inform the public.
While the retail prices of 133 out of the 242 products included in the Istanbul Wage Earners Cost of Living Index increased, the prices of 9 products fell, and the prices of 100 products remained unchanged.
CAULIFLOWER BECAME THE PRICE HIKE CHAMPION IN ISTANBUL
In February, cauliflower, which is in the fresh and dried vegetables and fruits subgroup of food expenditures, was the product with the highest price increase at 36.71 percent.
Some of the other products that experienced price increases were eggplant with 34.24 percent and cucumbers with 25.50 percent from the vegetables and fruits subgroup of food expenditures; terilen (polyester yarn) with 20.97 percent from the fabrics subgroup of clothing expenditures; green peppers with 18.88 percent, quince with 17.78 percent, and curly lettuce with 17.45 percent from the vegetables and fruits subgroup of food expenditures; and bed linen sets with 14.29 percent from the household goods expenditure group.
In February, intercity bus ticket prices, which are in the transportation and communication expenditure group, saw the largest price decrease, falling by 15.45 percent.
Other products that saw a decrease in price were spinach with 6.09 percent, tomato paste with 1.45 percent, eggs with 1 percent, and sugar cubes with 0.84 percent from the food expenditure group.
