The top-performing investment vehicle of the week remains unchanged
Gold was the best-performing asset for investors this week, while the stock market saw a decline in value.
Stocks traded on Borsa Istanbul lost an average of 4.77 percent in value on a weekly basis. In contrast, the gram price of gold increased by 7.74 percent. In foreign exchange markets, the euro/TL rose by 1.30 percent, while the dollar/TL increased by 0.30 percent.
The BIST 100 index saw a weekly low of 10,053.74 points and a high of 10,683.00 points. It closed the week at 10,208.76 points, down 4.77 percent from the previous close.
GOLD DELIGHTS INVESTORS
In the Grand Bazaar, the gram price of 24-karat gold bullion rose by 7.74 percent to reach 5,760 liras. The Republic gold coin increased by 7.69 percent to 38,842 liras. The price of a quarter gold coin also rose by 7.74 percent to 9,648 liras.
In the foreign exchange market, the US dollar rose by 0.30 percent to 41.9530 liras, while the Euro fell by 1.30 percent to 49.0060 liras.
Investment funds lost 0.32 percent in value this week, while pension funds saw a decline of 0.71 percent.
