The week's winning and losing investment vehicles have been revealed: Gold prices are down, the stock market is up
While Borsa Istanbul was the top-performing investment vehicle this week, the decline in gold prices drew attention.
The BIST 100 index on Borsa Istanbul closed the week with a 7.18 percent increase at 10,941.79 points. The index fluctuated between 10,109.02 and 11,158.05 points during the week.
DECLINE IN GOLD PRICES
In the Grand Bazaar, the gram price of 24-karat gold bullion fell by 3.82 percent this week to 5,540 liras. The Republic gold coin traded at 37,368 liras, a decrease of 3.79 percent. The price of the quarter gold coin dropped by 3.81 percent from last week's 9,648 liras to 9,280 liras.
SLIGHT CHANGE IN EXCHANGE RATES
The US Dollar rose by 0.04 percent this week to 41.9680 liras, while the Euro fell by 0.32 percent to 48.8479 liras.
Investment funds gained 1 percent in value, while pension funds gained 1.16 percent. Among investment funds, the top performers were "stock" funds with a 1.9 percent gain.
