While stocks traded on Borsa Istanbul ended the week with a decline, gold prices also saw a retreat. The dollar and euro gained value. Investment and pension funds are in the red, with only money market funds providing limited gains.
Stocks traded on Borsa Istanbul lost value on a weekly basis. The BIST 100 index saw its lowest level of the week at 9,092.69 and its highest at 9,434.14 points. It closed the week at 9,203.37 points, down 1.17 percent.
GOLD FELL
A similar decline was experienced in the gold market. The gram price of 24-karat bullion gold in the Grand Bazaar decreased by 1.24 percent to 4,296 TL. The selling price of Republic gold also fell by 1.25 percent to 29,033 TL. Quarter gold, which started the week at 7,290 TL, fell to 7,196 TL with a loss of 1.29 percent.
INCREASE IN DOLLAR AND EURO
On the foreign exchange side, the rise was notable. The US dollar rose by 0.58 percent to 39.6680 TL, while the euro rose by 0.46 percent to 45.7470 TL.
A decline also dominated the fund markets. Investment funds lost an average of 0.67 percent on a weekly basis, while pension funds lost 1.24 percent. In contrast, within the investment fund category, "money market" funds were the only group to provide gains for investors with a return of 0.86 percent.
