TİM reacts to 'austerity' circular: 'Except for tea, coffee, and dry pastries...'

Public austerity measures, which began following the end of the election economy, have been sent by the Ministry of Trade to the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM).

According to a report by İmam Güneş from Ekonomim; the list of austerity measures sent to TİM contained notable items.

Some of those items are as follows:

At award ceremonies organized by TİM and the Associations, companies receiving awards will be given low-cost, souvenir-style documents such as certificates.

Design competition organizations will be held in TİM and Association service buildings or public institution buildings.

NO MEALS WILL BE PROVIDED

Within the scope of the aforementioned organizations, additional expenses such as venue rental, decoration, cocktails (excluding tea, coffee, soft drinks, dry pastries, or very small snacks), meals, technical equipment, and similar items will not be included, and monetary awards or international fair visits for participants/finalists will be removed from the scope of awards.

MOBILE PHONES AND NEWSPAPERS

No mobile phones will be allocated to any employee or staff member other than the Secretaries General, and any existing allocations will be canceled.

For the Secretary General to whom a mobile phone is allocated, the monthly mobile phone call fee limit will not exceed the amount calculated by multiplying the 1800 indicator figure by the civil servant monthly coefficient.

Daily newspapers will not be purchased, and there will be no subscriptions to publications unrelated to the field of duty.

'WE HAVE PRESENTED OUR OBJECTIONS AND THOUGHTS'

TİM and exporters' associations, which are subject to Law No. 5910, are subject to ministry approval for budgets and expenditures. Other professional organizations are not required to obtain permission when making expenditures. Therefore, the reason for sending the austerity measures to TİM is related to its founding basis. TİM President Mustafa Gültepe, in response to questions, stated: “Austerity measures are being implemented across Turkey. Therefore, the Ministry sent them to us as well. We have presented our objections and thoughts. We have conveyed them. We believe we will find common ground.”
