Today is the last day for the first installment of the 2024 motor vehicle tax!

Today, January 31, is the deadline for the 2024 motor vehicle tax (MTV) payments. A late payment interest will be applied to those who do not complete their first installment payments by this date.

MTV is paid twice a year, in 2 equal installments in January and July. Taxpayers can make their MTV installment payments using credit and debit cards through the Revenue Administration's website. It is also possible to make payments via the GİB mobile application, the internet banking services and branches of contracted banks, and relevant tax offices.

To avoid any issues with online payments, it is important to access the system by typing "www.gib.gov.tr" or the official websites of banks directly into the browser.

This year's MTV amounts were calculated based on the revaluation rate of 58.46 percent. Accordingly, the lowest MTV amount in 2024 will be 347 liras, and the highest will be 133 thousand 572 liras. The first installment payments, which represent half of these amounts, must be made by January 31.

If payments are not made by the specified dates, vehicle owners will be required to pay a monthly late interest of 3.5 percent.
