Treasury borrows again: 52 billion lira in 2 days...

The Ministry of Treasury and Finance held two bond auctions today.

In the first auction, a 4-year (1407-day) government bond indexed to the Turkish Lira Overnight Reference Interest Rate (TLREF) with quarterly coupon payments was reissued. The periodic interest rate in the auction was 7.91 percent.

In the auction where nominal bids reached 25 billion 504 million lira, nominal sales amounted to 8 billion 405 million lira, and net sales were 8 billion 434.7 million lira.

There were no bids from the public sector in the auction, while 15 billion 901 million lira in bids were received from market makers, with 5 billion lira sold to this segment.

The second auction involved the reissue of a 10-year (3591-day) government bond with a 13.1 fixed coupon paid every 6 months. The simple interest rate in the auction was 25.28 percent, and the compound interest rate was 26.87 percent.

In the auction where nominal bids reached 38 billion 190.1 million lira, nominal sales amounted to 13 billion 665.5 million lira, and net sales were 14 billion 547 million lira.

In the auction where the entire 5 million lira bid from the public sector was met, 37 billion 388.2 million lira in bids were received from market makers, and 10 billion lira was sold to this segment.

The Treasury thus borrowed 37 billion 986.7 million lira.

THEY ALSO BORROWED YESTERDAY

The Treasury had also borrowed 14 billion 633.6 million lira yesterday. Thus, it has borrowed 52 billion lira in just two days.
