TÜİK announces: 134,155 houses sold in August
Across Turkey, house sales increased by 9.9 percent in August compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 134,155.
The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) has announced the House Sales Statistics for August.
Accordingly, house sales across Turkey increased by 9.9 percent in August compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 134,155. The provinces with the highest number of house sales were Istanbul with 19,467, Ankara with 12,496, and Izmir with 7,044, while the provinces with the lowest number of sales were Hakkari with 53, Ardahan with 93, and Bayburt with 116.
HOUSE SALES INCREASED BY 1.1 PERCENT IN THE JANUARY-AUGUST PERIOD
House sales in the January-August period increased by 1.1 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, totaling 806,317.
MORTGAGED HOUSE SALES REACHED 13,574
Across Turkey, mortgaged house sales decreased by 17.1 percent in August compared to the same month of the previous year, falling to 13,574. The share of mortgaged sales in total house sales was 10.1 percent. Mortgaged house sales in the January-August period decreased by 49.8 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 76,485.
Of the mortgaged sales in August, 3,055 were first-hand sales; of the mortgaged sales in the January-August period, 18,017 were first-hand sales.
120,581 HOUSES CHANGED HANDS THROUGH OTHER SALES TYPES
Across Turkey, other house sales increased by 14.1 percent in August compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 120,581. The share of other sales in total house sales was 89.9 percent. Other house sales in the January-August period increased by 13.2 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 729,832.
FIRST-HAND HOUSE SALES REACHED 41,913
Across Turkey, the number of first-hand house sales increased by 18.7 percent in August compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 41,913. The share of first-hand house sales in total house sales was 31.2 percent. First-hand house sales in the January-August period increased by 7.5 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 256,021.
92,242 HOUSES CHANGED HANDS IN SECOND-HAND HOUSE SALES
Across Turkey, second-hand house sales increased by 6.3 percent in August compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 92,242. The share of second-hand house sales in total house sales was 68.8 percent. Second-hand house sales in the January-August period decreased by 1.6 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 550,296.
2,257 HOUSES SOLD TO FOREIGNERS IN AUGUST
House sales to foreigners decreased by 26.2 percent in August compared to the same month of the previous year, falling to 2,257. In August, the share of house sales to foreigners in total house sales was 1.7 percent. The provinces with the highest number of house sales to foreigners were Istanbul with 838, Antalya with 696, and Mersin with 174.
House sales to foreigners in the January-August period decreased by 40.0 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, falling to 15,068.
By nationality, the most house sales were made to citizens of the Russian Federation
In August, by nationality, the highest number of house sales were made to citizens of the Russian Federation with 381, followed by Iran with 171, and Ukraine with 161.
