TÜİK announces 2025 second quarter GDP data: Economy grew by 4.8 percent

According to the 2025 second quarter data announced by TÜİK, Turkey's GDP increased by 4.8 percent on an annual basis. While growth was observed in the construction and information-communication sectors, declines were recorded in agriculture and public services. Household spending increased while government spending decreased; exports rose slowly, while imports gained momentum.

TÜİK announces 2025 second quarter GDP data: Economy grew by 4.8 percent

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) has announced the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) data for the second quarter of 2025. According to the institute's data, GDP as a chained volume index increased by 4.8 percent compared to the same period last year.

CHANGES BY SECTOR

When examining the activities that make up the GDP, increases were seen in some sectors, while decreases were observed in others:

  • Construction sector: 10.9% increase
  • Information and communication activities: 7.1% increase
  • Industrial sector: 6.1% increase
  • Trade, transportation, accommodation, and food services: 5.6% increase
  • Professional, administrative, and support service activities: 5.4% increase
  • Taxes on products minus subsidies: 3.0% increase
  • Financial and insurance activities: 2.6% increase
  • Real estate activities: 2.6% increase
  • Other service activities: 2.1% increase
  • Agricultural sector: 3.5% decrease
  • Public administration, education, human health, and social services: 1.2% decrease
  • The seasonally and calendar-adjusted GDP chained volume index increased by 1.6 percent compared to the previous quarter, while the calendar-adjusted data showed an increase of 4.6 percent on an annual basis.

GDP AT CURRENT PRICES REACHED 14.5 TRILLION TL

GDP calculated by the production method reached 14 trillion 578 billion 556 million TL at current prices, an increase of 43.7 percent compared to the same quarter last year. GDP in US dollars reached 377 billion 622 million dollars.

HOUSEHOLD AND GOVERNMENT EXPENDITURE

Final consumption expenditure of resident households increased by 5.1 percent in the second quarter, while final consumption expenditure of the government decreased by 5.2 percent. Gross fixed capital formation increased by 8.8 percent.

FOREIGN TRADE AND LABOR PAYMENTS

Exports of goods and services increased by 1.7 percent, while imports increased by 8.8 percent. Labor payments rose by 42.0 percent on an annual basis, while net operating surplus/mixed income increased by 46.3 percent.

The share of labor payments in GDP was recorded at 38.4 percent. The share of net operating surplus/mixed income was calculated at 40.2 percent.
