TÜİK announces: Downward trend in foreign trade in February

According to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute, there was a decline in export and import volume indices in February. An increase was observed in unit value indices.

TÜİK announces: Downward trend in foreign trade in February

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) has shared its foreign trade data for February with the public. According to the released data, while the export unit value index increased by 2.6 percent compared to the same month last year, the export volume index declined by 4.1 percent. The export unit value index for food, beverages, and tobacco products increased by 6.7 percent, while a 2.4 percent increase was recorded in manufacturing industry products.

On the import front, the unit value index showed an increase of 3.0 percent. However, the import volume index decreased by 0.5 percent.

While the import unit value index for food, beverages, and tobacco products increased by 6.5 percent, a decline was experienced in raw material imports.

According to seasonally and calendar-adjusted data, the export volume index decreased by 2.7 percent in February, falling to 153.8. In the same period, the import volume index decreased by 0.7 percent, dropping to the 127.7 level. The terms of trade, which stood at 87.2 in February 2024, fell to 86.9 in February 2025.
