TÜİK announces May data: Increase in industrial production and construction costs

According to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) for May 2025, industrial production increased by 4.9 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. When sub-sectors are examined, the mining and quarrying sector recorded a growth of 10.0 percent, the manufacturing sector 4.6 percent, and the electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning production and distribution sector 4.7 percent.

On a monthly basis, there was a 3.1 percent increase in industrial production. The mining and quarrying sector increased by 5.3 percent compared to the previous month, while the manufacturing sector rose by 3.2 percent. The electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning production and distribution sector showed no change.

INCREASE IN CONSTRUCTION COSTS CONTINUES

The construction cost index increased by 0.88 percent in May compared to the previous month and by 22.40 percent on an annual basis. While the material index increased by 1.09 percent monthly, the labor index rose by 0.52 percent. On an annual basis, the material index increased by 17.81 percent, and the labor index by 31.39 percent.

The building construction cost index rose by 0.81 percent monthly in May, while the annual increase was 22.46 percent. The material index increased by 1.08 percent monthly, and the labor index by 0.35 percent. On an annual basis, the material index showed an increase of 18.24 percent, and the labor index of 30.40 percent.

The construction cost index for non-building structures also increased by 1.11 percent monthly in May, while the annual increase was recorded at 22.20 percent. The material index increased by 1.11 percent monthly, and the labor index by 1.12 percent. On an annual basis, the material index rose by 16.46 percent, and the labor index by 35.03 percent.
