TÜİK announces: Unemployment increased in November

According to the November 2025 Labor Force Statistics published by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), the unemployment rate increased by 0.1 percentage points compared to the previous month, rising to 8.6 percent. The number of unemployed persons was calculated at 3 million 98 thousand.

TÜİK announces: Unemployment increased in November

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) has shared the Labor Force Statistics for the November 2025 period with the public.

According to the released data, the unemployment rate increased by 0.1 percentage points compared to the previous month, reaching 8.6 percent. The unemployment rate was estimated at 7.0 percent for men and 11.8 percent for women.

According to the results of the Household Labor Force Survey, the number of unemployed persons aged 15 and over increased by 54 thousand in November 2025 compared to the previous month, reaching 3 million 98 thousand.

According to seasonally adjusted data, the number of employed persons increased by 75 thousand in November to 32 million 737 thousand. The employment rate rose by 0.1 percentage points and was recorded at 49.2 percent. This rate was 66.8 percent for men and 31.9 percent for women.

LABOR FORCE PARTICIPATION RATE WAS 53.8 PERCENT

In November, the labor force increased by 128 thousand compared to the previous month, reaching 35 million 834 thousand. The labor force participation rate was calculated at 53.8 percent, an increase of 0.1 percentage points. This rate was determined to be 71.8 percent for men and 36.2 percent for women.

YOUTH UNEMPLOYMENT AT 15.4 PERCENT

The unemployment rate for the youth population, covering the 15-24 age group, remained unchanged in November at 15.4 percent. While the unemployment rate for young men was measured at 10.6 percent, it was estimated at 24.4 percent for young women.

WEEKLY WORKING HOURS AT 42.3 HOURS

The seasonally and calendar-adjusted average actual weekly working hours of those employed and at work during the reference period increased by 0.1 hours in November 2025 compared to the previous month, reaching 42.3 hours.

IDLE LABOR FORCE RATE DECLINED TO 29.1 PERCENT

The idle labor force rate, consisting of time-related underemployment, the potential labor force, and the unemployed, decreased by 0.6 percentage points in November to 29.1 percent. The combined rate of time-related underemployment and the unemployed was calculated at 18.7 percent, while the combined rate of the unemployed and the potential labor force was calculated at 20.2 percent.
