VAT message from Minister Şimşek: 'Field audits will be conducted'
Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek announced that AI-supported efforts to identify VAT rate discrepancies have been completed. Minister Şimşek also stated, "Field audits will be conducted on companies found to be abusing low VAT rates."
Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek quoted a report from Hürriyet on X titled, "Şimşek established a social media tip-off team... 100 major taxpayers will be monitored."
In his post, where he stated, "Field audits will be conducted on companies found to be abusing low VAT rates applied to reduce the tax burden on basic necessities," Şimşek said the following:

"Our Tax Inspection Board, Revenue Administration, and General Directorate of Risk Analysis have completed their AI-supported work to identify VAT rate discrepancies.
Field audits will be conducted on companies found to be abusing low VAT rates applied to reduce the tax burden on basic necessities.
We will continue to pursue those who cause tax loss and evasion, gain unfair profit, and create unfair competition."
