Vice President Yılmaz announces inflation target

Speaking at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) General Assembly, Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz stated, "Our priority goal for strengthening macroeconomic stability is to permanently reduce inflation to single digits in the medium term and to consolidate our price stability."

Vice President Yılmaz announces inflation target

Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, in his presentation regarding the 12th Development Plan at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) General Assembly, stated that the Plan includes five-year development targets and a long-term development strategy for 2053.

Stating that the development plans foresee measures to increase national savings and production, ensure stability in prices and balance in external payments, and improve investment and employment, Yılmaz explained that the efficient use of resources is targeted.

"WE WILL MARCH TOWARD OUR GOALS WITH DETERMINATION"

Yılmaz expressed that the 12th Development Plan was prepared to ensure the achievement of the 2053 vision with a 30-year perspective, and spoke as follows:

"In this process, our most important source of strength and inspiration is the passion to keep our nation living in a prosperous, honorable, free, and independent manner. In this context, during the 12th Development Plan period, which forms our long-term roadmap in the construction of the Century of Turkey, we will ensure that every member of our nation lives their present in peace and looks to bright tomorrows with hope and confidence. We will march toward our long-term goals with determination with the 12th Development Plan, which we have prepared on the path to a prosperous Turkey that has secured the rule of law and political stability with its deep-rooted democracy, strengthens social justice, and has become an effective power in ensuring global peace, stability, and justice."

Explaining that approximately 8,500 people participated in the special expertise commissions organized in 87 different areas as part of the plan's preparation work, Yılmaz said that a survey was conducted to determine the priorities of citizens in the new period with a participatory approach, and that over 43,000 citizens participated in the survey.

Stating that global trends point to different scenarios that contain both risks and opportunities for 2053, Yılmaz emphasized that anticipating every scenario for Turkey and implementing the necessary steps now will be decisive in raising Turkey's position in the world of the future.

"WE FORESEE AT LEAST 5 OF OUR BRANDS AMONG THE 100 MOST VALUABLE BRANDS IN THE WORLD"

Cevdet Yılmaz stated that they are acting with the vision of reaching an effective, strong, and prosperous Turkey that contributes to humanity as one of the world's leading centers of science, technology, production, trade, culture, and art, and that directs global developments for the peace, tranquility, and prosperity of its region and the world while protecting its national and spiritual values, and noted the following:

"Within a 30-year perspective; we aim to be among the world's 10 largest economies and the top five economies according to purchasing power parity as a country in the upper-income group league. We foresee increasing the share of the manufacturing industry in national income to over 30 percent, receiving a share of over 2 percent in global merchandise trade, moving the share of high-tech products in manufacturing industry exports to 17 percent, and reaching the net zero emission target without compromising our development priorities. We aim to enter the top 20 countries in human development indices, strengthen the family, ensure justice in income distribution, and reduce the unemployment rate to below 5 percent in the 2053 perspective by utilizing the productivity of every individual of working age. In addition to this, we foresee at least 5 of our brands being among the world's 100 most valuable brands, at least 5 of our universities being among the world's top 100 universities, and the ratio of R&D expenditures to national income being increased to 4 percent."

Stating that they have included a special perspective for Istanbul in the plan, Yılmaz emphasized that they aim for Istanbul to be a global center in science, technology, culture, art, tourism, trade, and finance.
