Vice President Yılmaz gives date for first significant drop in inflation

Yılmaz said, "We are implementing our medium-term program. Hopefully, we will get results on that matter step by step. Getting results on an annual basis requires some time; after this May, we will all see a significant drop on an annual basis in the summer period, such as June and July, God willing. According to our medium-term program, it will fall to 15 percent in 2025, and in 2026, with God's permission, we will reach single-digit inflation figures again. This is a process. We have made our plan and our program. We are implementing this step by step."

"TURKISH ECONOMY MANAGED TO GROW BY 4.5 PERCENT"

Emphasizing that the Turkish economy showed significant growth last year, Yılmaz said, "We have political stability, thank God. For 21 years, Turkey has been continuing on its path in an environment of political trust and stability. This is like air and water, dear friends; when it is not there, perhaps one understands its value better, but when it is there, perhaps we do not see it enough. I would like to underline this: if there is no political stability, if there is no environment of trust, neither will our economy develop, nor will you achieve development, nor will you have an environment of peace and security, nor will you attain the respect you deserve in the international arena.

Therefore, the strongest foundation for moving our country to the places it deserves in all these areas is trust and stability. It is political trust and stability. And this exists today. We have a strong leader at our head, may God Almighty not let us lack him. We are going through a difficult period for the world and for Turkey. There is war in the north, conflicts and wars in the south, and on the other hand, the world has not yet fully recovered after the pandemic.

On top of all this, we experienced the greatest disaster in our history. Unfortunately, 11 of our provinces and 14 million of our people were affected by this disaster. Despite all these difficult conditions, thank God, Turkey continues on its path strongly. While the world economy grew by around 3 percent last year, the Turkish economy managed to grow by 4.5 percent. 1.5 points above the world.

Despite all these negativities. On the other hand, our exports reached 256 billion dollars, our tourism revenue exceeded 54 billion dollars, and our employment exceeded the 32 million level. For the first time in our history, our national income exceeded the 1 trillion dollar level and went above 1.1 trillion. Our per capita income reached 13 thousand 110 dollars. All these are the successes Turkey achieved last year," he said.

"WE WILL REACH SINGLE-DIGIT INFLATION VALUES IN 2026"

Underlining that there will be drops in inflation, Yılmaz said, "Where do we have a problem? In inflation. We are actually very good in the real economy. Production is increasing, exports are increasing, growth is increasing, our tourism revenues are increasing. Our problem is in price stability, and we have made our new plans and programs at this point as well. We are implementing our medium-term program.

We are implementing this step by step," he said.

"DO NOT GIVE CREDIT TO THOSE TRYING TO CAST A SHADOW ON OUR ECONOMIC POLICIES"

Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz concluded his statement as follows:

"Some are spreading rumors, saying 'after these elections, this will happen, that will happen, such things will change in the country.' Dear friends, do not give any credit to these. Do not give any credit to speculations or manipulations. Look at what our President says, look at what we say, look at the statements of authorized institutions, look at what competent scientists and analysts say. Please do not give credit to those who try to cast a shadow on our economic policies with gossip on social media. The election is a local election. After all, we are not holding a general election.

Our Parliament is here and we have the majority. We elected our President for 5 years and he is at our head. Therefore, expecting a change after the local election in terms of general policies has no basis whatsoever. It is not realistic in any way. I would especially like to underline this. We have announced our medium-term program, and there is a great political will behind it.

There is the will of our President. He announced it himself. And we will continue to implement this medium-term program step by step. We have no intention of surprising anyone. Our program is open and transparent, our roadmap is there, whoever wants can take it and read it, and see our framework. Our roadmap is clear in its general outlines, and we will continue to implement this roadmap decisively and strongly. In this sense, please let us not give credit to those who try to speculate about the post-election period."
