The new price of simit in Ankara has been determined!
Savaş Delibaş, President of the Ankara Chamber of Simit and Pita Bakers, stated, "As of today, we have decided to cancel the price hike. The sale of Ankara simit will continue at 10 liras."
Stating that they had received a request for a price increase from tradespeople last week and had evaluated it, Savaş Delibaş, President of the Ankara Chamber of Simit and Pita Bakers, said, "On Friday, we had decided to increase the sale price of Ankara simit from 10 liras to 15 liras. We later conducted an evaluation and decided that the 15-lira price was too high. As of today, we have decided to cancel the price hike. The sale of Ankara simit will continue at 10 liras. We will continue to sell it at 10 liras for as long as we can afford to."
"WE ARE MAKING SACRIFICES"
Pointing out that simit tradespeople are making sacrifices, Delibaş remarked, "We previously received flour support from the Turkish Grain Board (TMO) and did not raise prices at all for 9 months during that period. If our tradespeople are supported again, we will not raise prices for another year. What is important for us is raw materials. If costs rise, we are forced to raise prices. If we receive support, we will not raise prices."
