The 2024 budget negotiations are continuing on their third day at the TBMM General Assembly.

According to the report by Namık Durukan from T24; while the budget negotiations were ongoing, the smell of liver wafting from the Parliament restaurant filled the entire building.

AKP Diyarbakır MP Suna Kepoğlu had a mobile grill, specially commissioned from Diyarbakır, set up in the garden of the TBMM Members' restaurant.

The smoke and smell of the liver, cooked by chefs who came specifically from Diyarbakır to Ankara, filled the entire Parliament. Kepoğlu, who occasionally took over the grill herself to cook liver, also served the food. Hundreds of kilograms of liver were offered to the guests who filled the Parliament restaurant to eat.

"PARLIAMENT SMELLS LIKE DIYARBAKIR"

Stating that the debate over which city liver belongs to has been put to rest and that it has been registered as belonging to Diyarbakır, Kepoğlu answered the question 'Why did you choose liver for the treat?' as follows:

"It has been registered that liver belongs to Diyarbakır. Liver belongs to Diyarbakır. Because it is the third day of the budget, we wanted to let the members of parliament taste liver, kadayıf, and meftune to promote Diyarbakır. The liver and the chefs came from Diyarbakır. Right now, Parliament smells like Diyarbakır."

CAN CITIZENS AFFORD RED MEAT AND LIVER?

While liver was being served in Parliament with the treats provided by AKP's Kepoğlu, citizens have been left in need of red meat and liver. Although officials have announced measures regarding the rise in red meat prices, no decrease in prices has been observed.

The situation with liver is no different from red meat. The price of beef liver, which is at least 360 liras on the websites of chain markets, reaches up to 430 liras at local butchers.

A citizen earning minimum wage can only buy 1 kilogram of liver with their daily earnings.
