Volatile week at Borsa Istanbul: Here are the top gainers and losers
Borsa Istanbul, which has been on an upward trend since the beginning of the year, posted its first weekly loss of 2026 due to the atmosphere of uncertainty in global markets and resistance encountered at the 14,000-point level.
The BIST 100 index at Borsa Istanbul paused its strong performance since the beginning of 2026 last week. Influenced by ongoing fluctuations in global markets, the index failed to surpass the 14,000-point level and closed the week with a decline. The BIST 100 closed at 13,521.96 points, marking a weekly decrease of 2.29 percent. Throughout the week, the index saw a low of 13,393.80 and a high of 13,998.18 points.
GENERAL DECLINE IN SECTOR INDICES
The banking index recorded a decline of 5.81 percent, while holding stocks lost 1.02 percent and the industrial index fell by 2.09 percent.
TOP GAINERS OF THE WEEK
Among the stocks in the BIST 100, the company that gained the most during the week was Grainturk Holding (GRTHO) with an increase of 14.06 percent. It was followed by Gübretaş (GUBRF) with 8.01 percent and Arçelik (ARCLK) with 7.89 percent.
STOCKS WITH THE HIGHEST LOSSES
In terms of stocks with the highest losses, Türk Altın İşletmeleri (TRALT) topped the list with a 15.82 percent drop. TR Anadolu Metal Madencilik (TRMET) lost 11.01 percent, and Ral Yatırım Holding (RALYH) lost 10.18 percent.
NO CHANGE IN COMPANIES WITH HIGHEST MARKET CAPITALIZATION
There was no change in the ranking of companies with the highest market capitalization on Borsa Istanbul. ASELSAN (ASELS) maintained its first-place position with a market capitalization of 1 trillion 313 billion 280 million TL, while Kiler Holding (KLRHO) came in second with 918 billion 125 million TL, and Garanti BBVA (GARAN) was third with 650 billion 160 million TL.
RETREAT IN TRADING VOLUME
The total weekly trading volume in the BIST 100 index retreated slightly, coming in just over 879 billion 387 million TL. Türk Hava Yolları (THYAO) took the top spot on the list of most traded stocks with 97 billion 535 million TL. Akbank (AKBNK) was second with 63 billion 180 million TL, and Aselsan (ASELS) ranked third with a trading volume of 52 billion 316 million TL.
