Warning to citizens from the Revenue Administration: Do not click on these emails

The Revenue Administration (GİB) of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance has warned citizens and taxpayers against fake "you have a tax debt" emails, stating that transactions and payments should be made through the Administration's official website, the Digital Tax Office, the GİB Mobile application, or contracted banks.

A statement regarding the matter was made on the Administration's website.

It was reported that, based on news in some national media outlets and applications and complaints made to the Administration, it is understood that fraudulent attempts are being made by sending fake emails to citizens and taxpayers in the name of the Administration, claiming they have tax debts and directing them to a fake site created by copying the Administration's Digital Tax Office webpage (https://dijital.gib.gov.tr) for payment.

The statement expressed that taxpayers are being directed to fake internet addresses through emails sent in this manner, and attempts are being made to seize their credit card and personal information. It was noted that taxpayers and citizens should be careful against such forgery and fraud attempts aimed at obtaining financial gain or credit card information using these or similar methods, and that they should not pay attention to such emails.

The statement pointed out the importance of conducting transactions and payments through the Administration's official website (www.gib.gov.tr), the Digital Tax Office (https://dijital.gib.gov.tr), the GİB Mobile application, or contracted banks so that taxpayers do not suffer grievances due to such fake emails and websites.

The statement also informed that taxpayers who receive such an email can obtain information by calling the Tax Communication Center (VİMER-189).
