According to data compiled by academic İnan Mutlu from Eurostat; while the rent increase in Turkey over the last nine years was 694 percent, this figure remained at only 16 percent in Europe.
Mutlu used the following expressions in his post on X:
"From May 2015 to May 2024, the average residential rent increase in EU countries was only 16 percent. In our country, the residential rent increase for the same period is 694 percent. In Hungary, the country closest to us, it is 86 percent. In the Netherlands, which we protested yesterday by stabbing oranges, it is only 21 percent...
