According to the report, the total financial assets of the sectors were calculated at 237 trillion TL, while their financial liabilities were calculated at 255 trillion TL.
With these data, the difference between financial assets and liabilities stood at 18 trillion TL. The ratio of the Turkish economy's net financial position deficit to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) increased by 1.97 points compared to the previous quarter, rising to 24.7 percent.
WEIGHT OF DEPOSITS IN HOUSEHOLDS
The composition of household financial assets also drew attention in the report. Within household financial assets, the cash and deposits item ranked first with a share of approximately 54 percent. Loans accounted for almost all of the households' financial liabilities.
When looking at the net financial positions of the sectors, it was observed that households and the rest of the world were in a creditor position against other domestic sectors. Non-financial corporations and general government, on the other hand, were in a debtor position against other sectors.
A decline was recorded in the borrowing tendency of domestic resident sectors through net financial transactions. While the sectors borrowed a net amount equal to 10.2 percent of GDP in the first quarter of the year, this rate fell to 4.6 percent in the second quarter. Thus, the net borrowing rate decreased by 5.6 points compared to the previous quarter.
Equity and investment fund shares stood out in the balance sheets of non-financial corporations. The share of equity and investment fund shares within the financial assets of these corporations was recorded at 46 percent, while their share within financial liabilities was 44 percent.
In the CBRT report, the indebtedness ratios of resident sectors in Turkey were also evaluated through international comparisons. The ratio of total debt, consisting of loans and debt securities, to GDP was 92 percent in the second quarter of 2026. This ratio showed a limited decline compared to the previous quarter.
