What is the latest status in the public worker wage negotiations? The expected statement has come from Minister Işıkhan

The economic management met with journalists at the Eastern Black Sea Project (DOKAP) Action Plan Information and Consultation meeting following the second Economic Coordination Board (EKK) meeting of this year.

During the meeting, in response to a question regarding the contract negotiations covering approximately 600 thousand public workers, Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan pointed out that the public collective bargaining processes and framework protocol efforts must be conducted in a multilateral and meticulous manner.

Reminding that TÜRK-İŞ and HAK-İŞ have submitted their demands, Işıkhan said that the parties held their first meeting on April 16, hosted by the Public Employers' Union of Turkish Heavy Industry and Service Sector (TÜHİS).

Pointing out that the negotiations are ongoing, Işıkhan used the following expressions:

"A new meeting will be held on April 24. We are conducting the process with sensitivity within this framework. I think it is too early to say anything right now. As a Ministry, we also have the responsibility of coordination. An agreement will be reached to a certain extent on the figures to be brought by the two sides here. In particular, technical committees are working very seriously on wages, personal rights, and social benefits. Our Ministry of Treasury and Finance, as well as our Presidential Directorate of Personnel and Principles, are within this committee; every single article is being evaluated in detail, and the process is progressing in this way."
