THE GOVERNMENT TOOK A STEP BACK

While this distinction made among retirees caused controversy, the government took a step back following the backlash and decided to pay the 5,000 TL bonus to working retirees as well.

Following Erdoğan's instruction, the regulation regarding the one-time payment of a 5,000 lira bonus to all retirees, without distinguishing between those working and those not, was accepted in the Planning and Budget Committee. With the article added to the 80-article omnibus bill discussed in the committee, the path to the bonus was opened for the 4.7 million retirees who were previously excluded.

Working retirees are waiting for the payment of the 5,000 TL bonus.

The omnibus bill accepted in the committee is aimed to be discussed and enacted in the Parliament General Assembly next week.

WHEN WILL THE BONUS BE DEPOSITED FOR WORKING RETIREES?

Two newspapers close to the government published reports pointing to the same date regarding the issue.

According to the report by Hazal Ateş from Sabah, the 5,000 lira bonus will be deposited for the 4 million 689 thousand retirees within this scope before December 15. Thus, the 5,000 lira bonus payment will have been made to all 15 million 120 thousand retirees.

According to the report by Yeni Şafak, the Treasury has begun work to deposit the bonuses into accounts by December 15.

Following the publication of the legal regulation in the Official Gazette, the bonuses of the retirees covered by this scope will be deposited into their accounts.
